Teaching English in Bulgaria is similar to other European countries, most notably Greece and Turkey. But you won’t need to travel elsewhere in order to find a dedicated and motivated calibre of English students. Bulgarian professionals value the expertise and dedication of the expert English teachers who instruct in the private and public language schools throughout the country.
Political change in Bulgaria has perhaps been less dramatic than elsewhere in the region and as such the private sector is still relatively undeveloped. One organisation offering placements is Study & Travel International who are looking for people with a TEFL qualification to work in the seaside resort of Albena from late May to August in exchange for free flights and board. Elsewhere, many contracts are available for 9 and 12 month durations, but you will want to visit beforehand to go through the interview process.
